VOYAGER, Victorian Fencing Overseas Travel Fund.
This fund has been established for the purpose of helping promising Victorian fencers with the high cost of competing overseas. Competing and training overseas is essential to the development and ultimate success of Australian fencers. Every year several fencers from Victorian fencing clubs go to Europe to compete and train.
Detailed information about the fund can be found on this website and the webpage www.facebook.com/VoyagerVictorianFencingOverseasTravelFund
It has only been a few months since the fund was established. Yet the fund has already attracted three contributors and provided grants for two fencers (from a group of six applicants).
Here are a few words of response from the two successful applicants,
1- Mark Bianchin, “...I want to say thank you... I understand the importance of this opportunity and I will do my very best to make the most of it. I will do my best to try and contribute positively to the culture of fencing in Victoria.”
2- Lucas Webber, “Thank you very much for the award of a Voyager grant. This will help a lot towards the costs of my overseas training trip to Japan and competition in HK in January 2014.”
In our fencing community, it is generally viewed as a success to start with three contributors. However, obviously that is not enough.
Therefore we would like to ask, would you be interested to be a contributor?
Contributors’ name and/or logo will be displayed on this website (you can view the names of the three existing contributors). This website, FencingTalk.net – despite the fact that it was launched in June this year - is getting more popular every day, locally as well as overseas.
The contribution amount is $500.
If you have any queries, we’ll look forward to hearing them. Thanks for your time to consider.
